Welcome our newest staff: Landon Bennett

I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to become Program Director. The team at Urban Hands, Harbor Creek Farms, and Upper Crust Catering is one of a kind, and I’m honored to be part of it.

I graduated from the University of Washington in 2016, then spent a year working as the Study Assistant to Earl Palmer, a Seattle area pastor. Following my tenure with Earl, I began working as a Shelter Counselor at New Horizons Ministries. It was here that I developed a passion for walking alongside homeless young adults as they worked to better their lives.

My initial exposure to Urban Hands was this October, when I coordinated our Sleepless in Seattle event. I had the opportunity to see the ins-and-outs of the operation in Greenwood, and was struck by the lively, hard-working, and caring group of people who work here. The steady stream of people knocking on our door who were met with a friendly face and a hot meal spoke volumes about the character of the people who work here, as well as the underlying philosophy of the organization they work for.

Moving forward, I’m excited about the trajectory of Urban Hands. We’re eager to welcome more volunteers into our meal program; it is impossible to have too many friendly faces and listening ears at our Community Breakfasts and Dinners. We also can’t wait to renew our jobs program, where we hope to assist homeless and at-risk people in finding fulfilling employment.
